This "unbearable" event is a unique opportunity to show your bravery as you support local Special Olympics athletes by walking, running or crawling into the frigid winter waters. In 2021, the Kirksville Plunge had 123 plungers and raised more than $35,000! This one-of-a-kind event promises a fun atmosphere complete with music, funny costumes, and lasting memories for everyone!

Polar Plunge is a family friendly event. Special Olympics Missouri promotes inclusion as a way of life for not only our athletes but everyone at our events. We reserve the right to ask anyone to alter/remove their costume if found offensive or harmful to those in attendance.

At-home Plunge
If you aren't comfortable participating in-person, we understand. You can still support local Special Olympics Missouri athletes through our At-home Plunge. Register as an At-home Plunger, raise your money and plunge from home by 'plunging' into a kiddie pool, taking an ice cold shower, running through a sprinkler, or creating your own “plunge.” Whatever you do, have fun, be safe and share a video of your At-home Plunge!

You may mail offline donations to: Special Olympics Missouri, Kirksville Polar Plunge, 702 S Woodbine Rd, St Joseph, MO 64507. Please include the names of the Plungers in the memo line of checks.
